The Emirates Infectious Diseases Society (EIDS) was formed in 2014  under the auspices of the Emirates Medical Association (EMA). The EMA is a non-profit medical organisation established in 1981 as the official association for physicians and allied health professionals in the United Arab Emirates.

EIDS has four main objectives:

1. To uphold and promote the field and profession in the UAE and the GCC region by fostering ties with regional and international organizations for infectious diseases.
2. To serve as the official forum for all healthcare professionals concerned in the field of Infectious Diseases.
3. To stimulate new research and other breakthroughs in Infectious Diseases through continuing medical education.
4. To facilitate the exchange knowledge among experts through the organization of scientific meetings, forums, and conferences in accordance with international standards.
